Hectic week

by cartlionel @ Saturday, 30. Dec, 2006 - 20:31:40

OOH Dear.. I didn’t blog for AAAGES...

It was Christmas, very very busy doing things and being nice and social.. and.. and.. playing Trackmania and watching TV a lot ;)

Blokey was supposed to be joining us for Christmas but he was taken into hospital on the 23rd because he had an infection in his arm. He’s ok though, He had an operation and will be coming out this week.

So it was just me, mum and Jess. I like it like that anyway.. no need to be all polite and afraid to have a choccie without asking.

We spent most of the day watching TV. And playing the Who wants to be a Millionair Buzz game. Mum was rubbish at it and my sister was answering the questions before I’d even finished reading them!

We almost had a Turkey-less dinner, Mum had only dished us up plates of veggies..

Mum’s main present from my sister was a laptop sized box and to say she was excited would be an understatement. I hope she wasn’t too disappointed with the turntable inside. I got her a graphics tablet. I’ll be using it more than she will and she knows it but she hasn’t moaned about that yet ;)

We went to my aunt and uncle’s on Boxing Day which was nice. They had some friends over from Holland and we spent all evening playing Newmarket.

Wednesday we hit the sales, where I spent £200 on games, £75 on clothes and about £50 on DVDs! EEK!

Thursday I spent with Jenni.

Friday I developed another cold.

But I accumulated some good stuff this year, a DAB radio, 2 Postsecret books, some new headphones (pink ones!), and the usual diary, smellies and chocolates..

But the best present of all was the fact that not one argument or disagreement was heard under our roof, even though my sister was here for 4 days! Amazing..

My Secret Santa

by cartlionel @ Sunday, 24. Dec, 2006 - 16:33:11

Usually on blog, you know of all the main Bloggers, even if you don't read their blog very often, You see them floating around blogland. So, somehow I managed to draw someone who I have never "met" as it were. Yay! ;)

montontonjon, This is for you. It's very lame, I know but the last few days have been really hectic and I have hardly had any time to blog at all :'(

You appear to like fashion. So.. I've improved ruined your outfit of 2007 ;)

Have a lovely Christmas and New Year. xx

Busy Bee

by cartlionel @ Saturday, 23. Dec, 2006 - 14:08:18

I can't believe tomorrow is Christmas Eve. I have soo much to do today but I can't seem to get motivated to do it. All I keep doing is playing with my Christmas present from my sister which I promised I wouldn't do until after Christmas.. grrrr..!

Day hasn't started off too well to be honest, I was trying to contact my sister all last night but she wasn't answering her phone and I was worried about her. And then I received an sms from my mum early this morning with some not very nice news which I'll learn more about later but it's put a dampener on the joyous season..

Thankfully, my sister is fine, she was just chugging back free booze at her works Christmas party ;)

So today, I have to wrap presents, clean everywhere, listen to the football, burn about 20 CDs, Make myself beautiful, Grab a couple of last last last minute gifts, Do my Secret Santa post, and spend a fortune in all the Sales that have sprung up all over the internet before all the good stuff goes.

So that's it from me, I'll try to catch up with blog tomorrow, But It's unlikely I'll have a lot of time. :(

Shopping in the cold. Brrrrr!

by cartlionel @ Wednesday, 20. Dec, 2006 - 23:48:40

Is it just me or is commenting screwed tonight? Not that I'll know if they actually are, cos.. er.. I can't leave any and I won't get any ;)

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that today I got my first "spam" comments on a blog post. Links to undesirable content. Why, thank you very much Mr spam-man. Hope you get fried with my next chip shop order.

Anyway. I've just spent 12 hours away from a PC! *shock! horror!*

I went into Southampton, (brave me! TOO MANY PEOPLE!!) to pick up the last bits of Christmas shopping with Jenni and her mum. Missed the early bus due to being unable to tell the time, so got up early for no reason after all.

(Why is there only 1 bus an hour to Southampton.. WHY??)

I know I'm going to be moaned at by Mum and Jess for spending too much money but I like to buy presents so tough. ;)

Disaster nearly struck when I was left alone in a shop selling, mostly breakables and after gingerly dodging the pretty vases and delicate lamps, I rushed outside to wait in the cold. Much more pleasant. um.. but in most places there was too many queues which hindered me buying a lot of stuff I would've bought had the queues not existed so lots of people shopping at the same time does have it's advantages.

I did buy something for myself, A "Mandala" from the Toy Shop (no queue in there, strangely) And I can't stop fiddling with it, it's a metal.. thing that bends into different shapes. £1.50, so a bargain.

Oh and I spent £3.50 on pic n' mix. that was fun. hm. I'll get high on suger :>>

Went back to Jenni's house afterwards and we just sat about drinking and doing nothing until her insanely early bedtime. I could never get up at 5am like she does. It's not right!!

And comments are fixed now. So I have 15 minutes to speed read blogs until I shoot Guitarist lots :)

Well done Cazza, You've ruined Christmas

by cartlionel @ Tuesday, 19. Dec, 2006 - 23:52:08

My sister's present from my mum was delivered today. It's something big in a large box. So, as my sister was visiting tonight, My mum had quickly wrapped it, and - as It was so big - I assumed she'd left it out with the other presents.

Nope.

So I got into trouble when I asked my sister if she'd seen the giant box with the pretty wrapping paper.

"What giant box? Ooh is it for me??!??!!"

I'm never going to hear the end of this, On Christmas morning, I'll be blamed for any lack of surprise. You'll see.

grrr

Here's our tree, we finally got around to putting it up tonight.

Double Wires

by cartlionel @ Tuesday, 19. Dec, 2006 - 00:47:10

A really cool, but.. annoyingly addictive Flash game.

It's like spiderman in stick form!

My Highscore: 89.31yds

There was a today? I missed it

by cartlionel @ Tuesday, 19. Dec, 2006 - 00:18:04

Got up at about 10:30 with an awful headache. consumed a box of 2 paracetamol and a bowl of Weetabix and felt sick so fell back into bed.

til about 5pm!

Felt utterly starving so helped my mum make a delicious dinner of pork chops and veggies, smothered in gravy.

And that's my day. whoop. It was the most exciting Monday of my whole, entire life!

Now, I'm meant to be playing F.E.A.R. with Guitarist but it's being weird, probably a good thing because I'm awful at shooting games. I tend to rush up to the enemy and shoot and shoot, never mind the fact that they're doing exactly the same thing to me. Haha!

All the presents for Christmas arrived today, so I now have to spend the rest of the week perfecting the art of wrapping them. That's always fun. a 5 year old could do better than I. Amazon took the trouble of wrapping Ploppikin's presents for me and delivering them straight to him, Thanks Amazon, so worth the extra 6!!! pounds! ;)

My 5 Facts

by cartlionel @ Monday, 18. Dec, 2006 - 21:29:09

If you know them, well tough, I couldn't think of anything else ;)

1 I didn't have my first kiss 'til I was 18
2 I can throw a mean Shot Put
3 I make my bed every morning without fail
4 I am blind in one eye
5 I once walked out of Woolworths with a pad of paper under my arm cos I forgot to pay for it.

Why did I moan about yesterday?

by cartlionel @ Monday, 18. Dec, 2006 - 01:11:58

Cos yesterday was like a honeymoon compared with today.. :(

Me and my mum had a massive row.. I have no idea how it started, but it was one of those ones that end up being about every single thing you've done wrong in the last year and if I so much as opened my mouth to defend myself, It's considered answering back. I ended up telling her to F*** off and slamming my bedroom door and sitting on the floor in the dark for about an hour.

And I couldn't stop crying because.. Well.. nearly everything she had said was the truth.

So I'm feeling a little down right now. She didn't even kiss me goodnight tonight.

I went over Jenni's to escape the atmosphere and we went to the Christmas Carol service at her church, usually guaranteed to perk me up and suddenly realise it's Christmas. But it hasn't really. We giggled over references to Emmanuel and Gabriel in all the songs and discussed why there was no mention of Freddie and Erik in any carols, you know, normal conversation (for us).

But it didn't feel right, and I'm soo looking forward to the new year when I will definitely be attempting to put right all my faults.

Highlight of the day was ManUre losing and eating a peanut butter sandwich. *sigh*

Could be better

by cartlionel @ Saturday, 16. Dec, 2006 - 16:32:46

I should be sitting in the Emirates right now, watching Arsenal v Pompey but thanks to Jenni's awful timing in changing her life, I wasn't able to get the tickets. (No, I don't blame you dear, I was just saaaying) xx

And to make matters even more boring, The one person who I can tease on here about the game is hiding away scoffing trifles. :##

Oh and Freddie has been substituted already cos he's "injured" :'(

What a sucky day.

Think I'll go help my mummy clean up the dead leaves outside..

On a happier note, Christmas entertainment arrived today.

Dusty

by cartlionel @ Friday, 15. Dec, 2006 - 23:15:34

Today I decided to sort out my weird noised up PC.

I told adamantixx yesterday that my PC would never break before Christmas.

Haha.. it soo nearly did. 88|

after we'd cranked it open and finished coughing from the puff of dust that shot up our noses, we got to work with a feather duster and paintbrush, cleaning all my delicate components to within an inch of their lives. Actually, most of it is still caked with dust.. stubborn, evil dirt stuff.

The horrible noise still persisted and eventually it was discovered that one of the fans has stopped working so thinking it was that we removed it from the case, but the rattling carried on. More so in fact.

Oh, and now the PC wouldn't boot up. It halted on "Verifying DMI Pool Data" whatever that means. Panic! Panic! Panic!

er, so reattaching the fan sorted that problem. Weird.

So now my PC still rattles and carries with it a malfunctioning fan. whoop. :|

Messy PC innit

And I'm a..

by cartlionel @ Friday, 15. Dec, 2006 - 21:40:24

You are .gif Sometimes you are animated, but usually you just sit there and look pretty.
Which File Extension are You?

hmm well at least it says I'm pretty.. didn't another quiz tell me that too? :>>

I don't mix well with fit male specimen :(

by cartlionel @ Wednesday, 13. Dec, 2006 - 23:58:47

I've finally decided where I'd like to work.

Oxfam.

It's a shame that volunteering in a charity shop is so... boring? Been there, done that.

The highlight of a day when I worked in one was a member of staff saying "Oh, hello Emmanuel, would you like a cuppa?" whenever this ancient guy came into the kitchen.

I was obsessed with Emmanuel Petit at the time, you see.. :|

So, um.. yes.. I was in Oxfam today, and there was this really tall, fit, foreign guy working in the back room, with the most dreamy accent I've heard in a long time. I think he was Polish or something..

I casually hovered around the door and asked him nicely if they had any video games back there, - as they always have new ones out the front. - He was very nice and let me go through a few piles while I was blushing and saying stupid things..

There wasn't any I wanted (I told him this.) But ended up buying 2 just so I felt that I wasn't wasting his time and energy (I told him this as well.)

Yeah, not going to Oxfam ever again  ;)

Nice surprise

by cartlionel @ Tuesday, 12. Dec, 2006 - 23:21:41

Back in August, I ordered a PC game off an eBay seller, I paid via bank transfer. A pretty routine thing for me. I prefer to pay that way if the seller accepts it cos it's easy and doesn't cost either of us anything, Yeah, I'm soo thoughtful :>>

But, 2 days later, the seller was "No longer registered" and of course, I never heard from them again, or received the game.

I didn't see the point in chasing it up, I wrote to eBay but they did diddly-squat, probably cos the amount of money involved was so measely.

Since then, I'd forgotten all about it.

Until I checked my bank account today and saw a payment for £8.70. Name and amount matches for the stupid seller so I assume this is a refund? :)

So was my "purchase" merely a 0% interest savings plan? "Pay us money and we'll pay you back before Christmas!!"

Either that, or they were BUSTED.

Or they have a conscience..

Presents for me

by cartlionel @ Tuesday, 12. Dec, 2006 - 21:28:38

The thing my mum wants most for Christmas is a new laptop, I'd love to buy her one but I don't see the point because next month, Windows Vista will be upon us and she will moan that her laptop is obsolete already..? hmm

So, she has told me a few other things she'd like here and there.. one of those things is something that I've been wanting for a loong time.

So I'll get her one of those then. :>>

And use it more than she will..

(Damn my mother knowing about my blog, eh?) ;)

Teeth

by cartlionel @ Tuesday, 12. Dec, 2006 - 00:10:21

I had to go to the dentist today. yuck.

My previous dentist appointment - during the summer - had been my first since.. well.. since I was at college.. 2001..?

So you can imagine how absolutely terrified I was at the prospect of being told that my teeth all needed replacing, or something.

But despite the dentist reeling off a load of horrible sounding dental jargon while jabbing inside my mouth with his tool, He finished up by telling me that my teeth were fine and all he wanted to do was take an X-ray.

Thank god.

Today's appointment was equally easy.

Which makes me wonder if as soon as I have to start paying for my dental care, they'll going to start finding things to "fix". I mean, my teeth can't be so lovely, what with all the garbage that comes into contact with them..!

It's dark in here

by cartlionel @ Sunday, 10. Dec, 2006 - 21:21:00

Well the weekend has been fun. The electrics have been playing silly buggers with me. I hate sitting in the dark while the rain and wind lash against the windows.

I guess it started some time last night as I awoke today to see my alarm clock flashing some false time.

Then I was quickly watching last weeks's Lost before the football and pooom.. everything shut off.. for about 10 minutes and I started to panic that I wouldn't be able to watch the game!

Thankfully it came back on and went off and came back on again before kick off.

well I didn't like watching that. Jenni was here too and every time Arsenal did something stupid (every 2 minutes?) she moaned about it, "For goodness sake Cesc, did you leave your passing boots at home?" "That was awful! Adebayor!" and of course "Shoot! SHOOT!" Anyway, as she was sitting there with her thumb close to her mouth, I was extremely curious to wonder whether her thumb had a bugged microphone in it that was wirelessly connected to all our players and she was secretly communicating with them. tut tut.

When Flamini scored we jumped around in ecstasy until my nose started to gush blood so I didn't see Chelski's equalizer. (woo!)

Oh and sometime during the match, the electricity went off again for about a minute. People on the Isle of Wight probably hurt our screams. :(

I'm just waiting for my mum to come home now (Yeah, guess where she is?) And living on the edge by blogging knowing full well that I can be plunged into darkness at any minute..!!

Too slow for yawnfest

by cartlionel @ Friday, 08. Dec, 2006 - 19:43:46

My internet is playing up something chronic so forgive me for being a slow blogger today.

I will, will ring up stupid ISP and yell lots.. I WILL!

Download rate hasn't peaked above 10k all day and if I get booted off MSN one more time I am going to scream.

Ditto if/when I next see Cannot Find Server messages in Firefox.

Got a comment today from my ancient Yawnfest post. From Lord Yawnfest

Ah, my dear Queen! Wear your yawnfest tag like a tiara and be proud to be honoured in such fashion. Others were just common yawnfest stock, but blue blood flows through you. There can only be one Queen Yawnfest, and that is you, your majesty!

*With a cloud of smoke and the aroma of sulphur hanging in the air he was gone once more*

hm.. er.. so yeah.. Where's the colourful Vodka?!

In other words, a dull day

by cartlionel @ Thursday, 07. Dec, 2006 - 23:58:17

Had a really geeky day today playing with video stuff and RSS stuff and searchy tools. Didn’t 100% accomplish what I wanted to but it’ll do.. At least I will now be more efficient in my day-to-day news "scraping". *crosses fingers*

And I think the gravity in this flat has become stronger overnight, While I was in the bathroom earlier, I dropped the handwash on my foot, which knocked the bottle of talc into the sink, and in an entirely separate incident, I became unable to turn off the hot tap of the bath.

Bored of Sky already, no movies interested me tonight so another evening passes where I’m not getting my money's worth. grrrowl..

It's Christmas!

by cartlionel @ Thursday, 07. Dec, 2006 - 00:06:25

So it's now officially Christmas.

Our first Christmas card dropped onto the doormat this morning.

I've been humming that Slade song all day.

I've ordered most of the remainder of my pressies from the good ol' internet. Still need something for Mum and Jess though.. awkward family members..

The first official domestic Christmas "disagreement" erupted. I wasn't involved but I got to hear every last word of it. Including my sister leaving the flat in tears and slamming the door.

I love this time of year.

Arsenal qualified for the next round of the CL. yipeee. never mind the fact that I was almost asleep during the last 30 minutes. The ball didn't cross the half-way line once.. stupid game.

I was only awoken from my near comatose state when ooh.. Freddie interview!! quite lengthy too.. every time I thought that it was about to be wrapped up, He was asked another question. mmmm... did I mention he was only wearing a vest with a Porto shirt slung carelessly over his shoulder? No? Well he was/did/whatever and it was a heavenly sight. (Yes I took pictures of my TV..)

He wasn't even out of breath or sweating though, which sums up the match nicely really..

Oh, and I got a stalker! 88|

My angel (except it lies)

by cartlionel @ Wednesday, 06. Dec, 2006 - 18:59:11

I have a thing for angelic things, but this isn't true really. The PINK angel is much more me.. stupid lovely test (That I nicked from MenoMama). I thought it would be pretty accurate, considering I'm a real angel and everything! *sigh*

What Color Angel are YOU? (pictures)

You're a "Green Angel". You're one person who is extremely protective of people around you (especially your friends) and you'd end up as a gaurdian angel. You're stronger than most and aren't ashamed to show it. People know how tough you are and don't dare to mess with you when you get mad. You've got a serious justicecomplex so anything that seems wrong makes youmad. You're real close with your friends andcouldn't live wihout them so even in heaven, you want to help them. You know they'd want youas a gaudian angel and you'd love to be able toensure safety of your friends for yourselfbecause you're on of those "If you wantsomething done right, do it yourself" kindof person.

Nothing much..

by cartlionel @ Tuesday, 05. Dec, 2006 - 22:25:49

Another dull Cazza day.

It started off well, me with a bag of goodies ready to donate to the charity shop was spied by my neighbour who spotted Grand Prix 2 and started going into nostalgic detail about how much he loved playing that game when he was growing up.

Of course I gave it to him, I'm not that mean!

I've also learnt never ever to lend my sister a penny ever again. She was supposed to give me back the 40pounds she borrowed off me last week but doesn't have it so now I have to wait til 22nd Dec. :##

She bought fish & chips over though, and got me a Spam Fritter which was heaven on a plate.. so..

Oh and because she's here, it means I can't watch a film.. so that plan lasted.. 2 days? grr

Went to Asda, bought chocolate and crisps and alcohol for Christmas.. 18 bottles of sugar-filled, colourful bottles for me to consume (and my mum, you know she finished my Bacardi stuff I treated myself to?) gaaah! Oh and I bought me some new slippers blue woolly ones with balls on, they don't go "mooo" like my old pair did though :'(

I've also been invited to Gary's birthday party on Saturday. oh yes..! I should take along some chocolate and crisps and alcohol.. oh well.. another trip to Asda next week then? :|

Leaving it all 'til the last minute

by cartlionel @ Sunday, 03. Dec, 2006 - 16:22:12

Last night I fell asleep here. In this chair, my head resting on that day's pair of socks which, for some reason, I had dumped by my keyboard.

The electricity being cut off awoke me. Yes, a powercut. I love them! Not.

So.. Today's plans, Clean.

Dust, Hoover, Clean the toilet, sink, bath, take out the rubbish, load the washing machine, cook me a nice dinner.

And my mum will come home tonight and tell me what a lovely daughter I am. ;)

I haven't done any of those tasks yet. fixing my annoying Firefox problem took priority. When I open a new tab, It sometimes opens 3 times, and when I close a tab, it usually reopens again. Growl.

I asked Zvone which film I should curl up and watch tonight. Pride & Prejudice it is then. 88| Damn Keira Knightley swaying his decision!

What an excellent day!

by cartlionel @ Saturday, 02. Dec, 2006 - 22:38:36

Arsenal won! yipeee! We beat those *cough* *cough* down the road..! 3:0! One day we'll win a home game by another scoreline though.. :)

And Erik was a mere 30 minutes down the motorway for the day.. I should've taken advantage. Of course I did not. :(

I got 2 numbers on the lottery, not that that means anything but it's progress..

I watched Shark Tale, Actually, I'm planning to watch a film every day while I am all Sky'd up. Cos, I know there's about a billion I didn't see. I'm not a film person. Anyway, Shark Tale was.. OK, suppose.. I'm a sucker for anything animated.

I've replaced mum's chocolate bar from the fridge as I've spent the week devouring it, I'm such a good daughter. :>> Just hope I'm not tempted to rip this new one open before tomorrow night when mummy returns from her "holiday".

Now I have a little time to waste before Match of the Day, which I'm reeeeaaally looking forward to.. *drool*

The only 'bad' thing that happened was my emptying of lemonade all over the floor. Could've been worse though, could've been the Bacardi..!!!

Good start to the day

by cartlionel @ Saturday, 02. Dec, 2006 - 13:13:26

Yeah I know it's lunchtime... but..!

So my.. er.. brunch was going to consist of Crumpets smothered in butter...

Except, Cazza broke the toaster. so now crumpets are half cooked poo.

The knob you push down flew off when it popped up again..

And, yes, I'm scared of using the grill. *shudders*

Hilarious..

The rest of the day will be better. Lalalala...
