by cartlionel @ Monday, 31. Jul, 2006 - 20:17:34

What a fun weekend. Well the majority of it was.

The only downer waZZ diZZcovering that Blokey iZZ in fact an aZZZZhole. it waZZ hiZZ birthday a few dayZZ ago and my mum had bought him a niZZe silver chain. After their argument, He had loaded up her car with pretty much everything ZZhe had ever bought for him. (i.e. The Laminator). Which piZZed her off greatly. On ZZaturday, ZZhe found the chain in her purZZe and ZZhe waZZ really hurt. :(

I got my Four Four Two magaZZine which included picZZ of ZZidane’ZZ brother. Not aZZ fit according to Jenni.

YeZZterday, I went over to Jenni’ZZ and ZZhe waZZ in a very ZZidaniZZh mood and confeZZed that ZZhe wanted to marry him and have hiZZ babieZZ. I ZZee a ZZmall problem with that.

While we were making our tea, we diZZcovered a fun game to play. YeZZ. The ZZ game. We called her family aZZ they’re away at the moment ZZo we could... er.. play the game with them but we dialled the ZZidane household inZZtead and hiZZ wife anZZwered. OopZZ. Unfortunately, after dialling the correct number, the phone waZZ handed to me aZZ Jenni was in hyZZtericZZ and could hardly talk!

We tried to fikZZ her ZZimZZ game but it is ZZtill broken, ZZo inZZtead we inZZtalled ChampionZZhip Manager 97-98 and ZZtarted a new game. An hour later, it had only progreZZed 37 perZZent ZZo we gave up and went to ZZleep. Before we did though, we had a diZZcuZZion aZZ to whether my electric toothbruZZh makeZZ the right noiZZe. It doeZZn't.

I dreamed I waZZ in jail for being a computer game addict, I also had a weird moment when I heard our Uni fire alarm go off (a regular occurrenZZe). I alZZo dreamt that my computer got it’ZZ firZZt viruZZ and ZZince ZZwitching it on today I have notiZZed endleZZ problemZZ with it. Maybe it waZZn’t a dream after all...

Think I’ll reformat. That’ZZ a fun activity!

Shocks and Old Ladies

by cartlionel @ Friday, 28. Jul, 2006 - 23:26:01

As I mentioned in my previous post, my mum appeared at the door today unannounced. She wasn’t meant to be home until Sunday night so, after shoving Freddie and half a bag of Doritos into my wardrobe, I let her in.

She and Blokey have fallen out. I don’t know how long-term this arrangement is but it seems pretty final to me. Although I thought that the last time it happened, and the time before that as well I think.

I’ve tried to be nice to her all day, by letting her just sit about and do nothing but my Mum isn’t very good at doing nothing so I’m pretty sure we’ll have an argument sooner or later about my lack of keeping a house clean for Just. One. Week.

In case you’re wondering, I managed to get Freddie out of the wardrobe and out of the house while my mum was unpacking her suitcase :)

Before all this palaver, I was digesting the horrid information of who Arsenal look very likely to face in the Champions League Qualifiers. Dinamo Zagreb. Yay. That’s Zvone’s team. I have bagfuls a few items of memorabilia and I like it when they win games so am not too pleased. What were the chances of that happening? Bah!

This evening I promised my elderly neighbour I would go and have a chat with her for half hour or so. She felt extremely guilty serving me water and rich tea biscuits. I wasn't really looking forward to the visit as I have heard from my mum that the lady is getting a little nutty and thinks people are stealing her stuff and swapping it with old broken things. Luckily she didn't seem to go down the road with me.

We had a pleasant chat about food, and what a cheerful soul I am. Unfortunately, I felt pretty comfortable sat up in her flat and told her a few things that I don't usually share with people so she probably thinks I am nutty too.

Now i feel a bit guilty because I bet she is expecting my visit to become a regular thing but I don't think I want it to be a regular thing. I know she’s old and she lives alone but ah.. maybe I can spare an hour a week. I’ve got nothing else to do...

Please Envy Stuffing

by cartlionel @ Thursday, 27. Jul, 2006 - 23:58:43

There is absolutely nothing going on when you’re home alone and.. well... at home all the time.

All I’ve been doing is playing PES, watching stupid music channels and reading The Da Vinci Code.

I started playing in a PES league against the computer, even though I’ve never actually managed to win a game against the computer. So, you can imagine how annoyed I was when I took a peek at the fixture list. First 2 games of the season? Chelsea at home, Liverpool away. Talk about mean!

I was surprised to beat Chelsea.

I was very surprised to beat Liverpool.

And then I drew with Middlesbrough. HMMMM! Weird game.

So far, my only online partner has been Eruni. Yesterday I decided to be brave and attempt to play with strangers. The only other game I have played online actively is Yahoo Hearts. This would be fine except the people there are mostly abusive little kids who moan if you take longer than 4.5 seconds to lay a card and insult the hell out of you if you dare venture away from the invisible Heart playing rules that you are supposed to know before you are even out of the Provisional period.

My first game was against Inter. I lost. Badly.
My second game was against Milan. I won.
My third game was against Milan. I won.
My fourth game was against Milan. I won.
My fifth game was against Milan. I lost.

Do people like Milan in Pro Evo Online world? It would seem so!

Today I’ve played another 5-6 games and lost every one. I have never swore so much in my life. I even called Freddie a Stupid Shit Bastard. I’M SORRY! :(

I think I get too emotional if I choose Arsenal so will start to choose other teams I am not so attached to. (But then people will choose Arsenal and it will be no fun!)

The Da Vinci code I am really enjoying. It is the most spaghetti-ish book I’ve ever read. That probably says a LOT about my usual reads! :D

That's Sick!

by cartlionel @ Monday, 24. Jul, 2006 - 00:52:24

By the time my first week of Uni had finished, I’d thrown up. No, it wasn’t drink related, I wasn’t your stereotypical student. It was my first time living away from home and having to meet all these new people and do all these different things was scary.

A few days before I left Uni, I was scared shitless. I was frightened that I was making the wrong decision and how my family would react and the fact that I had this enomous loan over my head with nothing to show for it. I threw up again.

This week, I left training, ready to face a new phase in my life, albeit a boring, but hopefully brief one. So, last night I awoke about 4:30am and felt very nauseous. Staggering to the bathroom, I spent a few minutes with my hands on my knees feeling like I was about to die before it all flowed out. Feeling much better, I cleaned up and went back to bed.

I have a cousin a couple of years younger than myself. When she was little and used to come over to our house with her parents, it was pretty much guaranteed she’d be sick. She was even sick at a fireworks display, right down the back of someone’s jacket! ugh. I think she was scared of my mum. My mum is lovely but she can be pretty scary sometimes. She isn’t very playful and frowns upon childish behaviour.

Maybe there is a theme here. We must share the “If you’re scared of something, You’ll vomit” gene. I wonder who passed that along to us....

Saturday Sat Sitting

by cartlionel @ Saturday, 22. Jul, 2006 - 23:49:16

Training is now over. I finally left Thursday lunchtime, even though Jeanne said I could leave at 10:30 after my review, I just couldn’t seem to get off my ass and walk out of there. I felt pretty sad but once I was on my way home I felt OK.

I’m now home alone for the entire week. Mum has gone to stay with Blokey until next Sunday so this means I have to do my own cooking, washing and ironing. eugh.

At the moment, I’m seeing how many games I can simultaneously install onto my hard disks before they moan that they’re full. I’ve spent a fun couple of hours playing Sonic Heroes and Flatout. Hopefully this activity will allow me to finally shrink my collection down by getting rid of the rubbish.

This afternoon I watched Dennis’s Testimonial on TV. It was lovely. I wish I’d gone! But then I would’ve missed this lovely man talking :(

I love Manu, he’s one of the reasons I got into football in the first place (Although, I am pretty sure Jenni would’ve talked me round eventually anyway!) I won’t go into too much detail about the match as Jenni was actually there and I bet she has LOTS to say about it, so I’ll just say that I shed a little tear at the end as Dennis gave his speech thing and It was lovely to see all the old players again.

Eruni and I have been playing Pro Evolution Soccer over the net way too much lately. We’re both rubbish but getting better all the time and so far I am winning 4 games to 2. He seems to like picking Brazil a LOT! Grrrr...

So... This week I get to return to the Job Centre (woo) but this time I feel a lot brighter about going. I found the place pretty intimidating before as I was finding the Job-searching so tough. I really hope that I am able to put myself forward better now and that I don’t have to spend too long under the eyes of those evil advisors! :D

And it rained lots today. Fantastic! :)

Torturing CR17

by cartlionel @ Friday, 21. Jul, 2006 - 20:13:49

I’ve discovered I have a conscience.

Torturing Cristiano Ronaldo only brings pleasure for a while. Then you feel you have to please the little bastard.

Tis not fair!

We started by building him a small house, with gravel flooring and a living room that looked more like the waiting room at a train station. (It was the walls!)

Did I mention that we didn’t install a toilet?

Anyway, CR17 moved in, he has a pleasure seeking aspiration. At first, we made him hit on his female visiting welcome wagon neighbours so relationships did not start off well. One of the visiting neighbours was Manu who CR17 decided to push. They are now enemies.

Then he decided to do the same to Nylissit. They’re enemies too.

I’m pretty sure that would be a reflection of real life anyway..!

We put him in the Medical career (He has no interest in health) and off he trotted next morning to work, but not before he got sick eating last night’s mouldy dinner and pissing himself.

While he was working, some workmen came over to install a swimming pool in his garden, complete with a DIVING board.

He liked it very much.

Over the next few days he became increasingly sick with food poisoning. We had to (reluctantly) install a toilet as it seems Sims cannot throw up without it and it was one of his fears.

CR17 hates housework, and I suppose doing housework while you’re sick is even worse. He did a lot of housework over those days too.

Poor CR17 was going a little insane. He didn’t have any luxuries like a television, or a computer. He didn’t even have any books to read. He just went to work to do a job he hated, came home, passed out by the roadside, woke up, ate mouldy food and spent the night diving repeatedly. until he was so fatigued he moaned constantly for just a LITTLE comfort. All the above was forever interrupted by his dash to the loo so he could throw up.

Then the therapist came.

Actually I think the therapist turned up at least 6 times but that’s ok, he got to fall over a lot which aided him well in his recovery.

At this point, we decided to go easy on him a bit. Figuring he might be a little lonely (The Social Bunny had also been a recent visitor) CR17 made a phone call to the local Gypsy who arranged a date for him. He met Carina, one of Manu’s employees and they had a great date. The next day, he met another girl, Sarah and had a great date with her too, especially as she was quite willing to go home with him.

But he preferred Carina. They married in his garden, as far away from the diving board as they could get.

To Be Continued... (At some point)

That spaghetti essay

by cartlionel @ Thursday, 20. Jul, 2006 - 23:49:52

The Question: Write 1200 words about..

a: The jobs you are seeking and how you come to these conclusions.
b: The travel to work areas in which you will seek work and reasons why you have chosen them.
c: The job search methods you will use and why you think they will be effective
d: A survey of the major industries, working population and social economic make up of the areas you have chosen, together with potential industrial developments and changes that are likely in the foreseeable future.

The Answer: A load of spaghetti

Like most people, while I was growing up, I went through phases of what I wanted to be when I was older. This started as a pop singer at a very young age and developed into more mainstream occupations such as a History teacher, a French translator and a Journalist as I grew older. Most of these ideas were soon forgotten and as a result, I left school - and later, college - without any clear cut life goal that so many of my friends appeared to have regarding their future.

I chose to go to University to study a broad subject, Entertainment Technology, as this course seemed to focus on a lot of areas I was interested in at the time. It took me quite a while to realise that the course wasn’t for me. I wanted to keep my hobbies separate from my working life, so I could develop the skills I wanted at my own pace, rather than having my entire future dependant on learning about the latest programming language or the most recent industry jargon.

I left, still with no inkling as to what I wanted to do. I was 23 years old with no proper work experience. I decided the best areas of work to focus on for the time-being was administrative tasks and customer services as these would teach me valuable skills that no college course would let me acquire and practise in a confident manner. Whether I will work up the ladder in these careers, I have no idea at the moment, but I hope it will give me a taste of what the working world is like and enable me to better see what other possibilities I have.

While at University, I’d lived away from home so on my return, I had to discover the best places in the area to base my job search in. As I am registered blind, I am unable to drive so any potential job has to be easy to reach via public transportation. I currently live in an area which is quite out of the way and because of this; buses are my only real option of getting places. I am hoping to move to a more accessible location soon but at the present time, my only area options are: Chandler’s Ford, Eastleigh, Winchester and Southampton City Centre. Another reason I have chosen these areas is that I know them pretty well, especially Eastleigh as I used to live there as a child. Travelling to an unknown area on a regular basis would almost certainly require some sort of mobility training.

The main way I will look for work will be by browsing advertisements in the local paper or on the internet. This will include the Job Centre Plus Website, The Echo and Monster-Jobs. I will also post my CV on the internet to allow potential employers looking for the abilities, skills or qualities I have to be able to contact me if they wish. Networking with family and friends will be an important part of my Jobsearch as other people may have become aware of vacancies that I wasn’t aware of or had overlooked. I would follow up any such lead with a letter, an email or a telephone call.

I understand that a fair number of jobs aren’t even advertised so being aware of local businesses to target is very important. Writing speculative letters or emails to a number of them to let them know about myself and that I would love to work for their company or organisation would – I hope - give me a huge advantage over other jobseekers. My family and friends would also help by informing me whether or not there was to be any relevant position available at their place of work or that of their friends. They could also help by telling me about businesses to contact that they know about or have worked for in the past.

Getting an interview is the best thing to happen while job-searching. It means that the employer is keen. And a successful interview could nail a job! However, to perform well at an interview requires a lot of research and a lot of practise. It is much easier for me to sell myself on paper than verbally as I can take the time to review what I have said and I can take the time to think about what I want to say. In an interview, you don’t have that luxury. Preparation is the key to a confident interviewee. Obviously, you are not going to know the exact questions that will be asked but I have learnt that you need to be aware of what the interviewer wants to know and rehearse over and over again. This will be a big part of my job search plan.

The major industries in the areas I have chosen include the public sector, offices (particularly head offices of large retail companies), light industry and the entertainment sector such as bars, clubs and restaurants. Southampton City Centre in particular often has high availability of jobs in retail outlets and bars. Winchester has a seasonal jobs market due to higher tourism in the summer months. In Chandler’s Ford, there are many large industrial estates, involving mostly administration for the service industry, and light industry such as building supplies and tools manufacturers.

One of the biggest growth industries is the building trade because new houses are constantly being built in the Chandler’s Ford and Eastleigh area. The working populations of the various areas differ in social and economic terms. Chandler’s Ford and Winchester are quite affluent, and Chandler’s Ford in particular houses a high number of middle class people at the top of professions such as banking and the IT field. However, many of these individuals commute to London for work. Southampton and Eastleigh are more diverse, with workers from all sectors of society.

There are many local micro-economies in these areas, with young people from the more wealthy areas often spending many years in education before seeking employment, whilst people from poorer areas are more likely to go straight to work. This means a high concentration of younger people in junior management roles in industries such as retail and entertainment. In the future, the number of retail outlets is likely to diminish due to the advent of online shopping. Growth is likely to occur in the service industries as employers find innovative ways of serving the convenience culture, such as introducing direct-to-your-door services rather than selling from shops and offices. Growth is also likely to occur in the public sector due to the higher concentration of older people, who will require specific services, in the population.

Will I miss training?

by cartlionel @ Wednesday, 19. Jul, 2006 - 23:57:44

I hate the heat. We don’t have air conditioning at Training, we have about a million fans twirling the warm air around the room. Luckily, Maddy, the important boss lady, said we could all finish at 1pm today as it was “too hot to do anything!” Whoop!

Tomorrow is my last day. On the one hand, I am glad. I haven’t been doing anything constructive for the last few weeks, but on the other hand. I am a little sad that despite learning a lot, I don’t have a job to go to.

I’ve seen people come and go; nice people, annoying people, immature people.. Some of those people I’ve got to know pretty well yet most don’t want to stay in touch as they see it as a bad time in their lives that they’d rather forget, I’ve made a couple of friends, Margaret and Carina who I am still in touch with though.

Training has taught me many things that were hindering my job-seeking before I started. I will always be grateful to the staff for providing me with valuable information about the best ways to approach and apply for jobs and to make me see that I am not a worthless, skill-less nobody who has left it too late to start at the bottom of a career ladder. I still have no clue what I’d like to do, but it’s given me a push in the right direction of being aware what I am capable of achieving.

At least I don’t have to get up early anymore and sit in a stuffy room with 40 computers pumping out heat like there’s no tomorrow...

But I lose £40 a month income.

I guess it’s an even trade :D

A sticky situation

by cartlionel @ Tuesday, 18. Jul, 2006 - 23:54:57

It’s been a busy week in Lanesra. Actually, compared with the lives of my Highberg residents, Lanesra life has been pretty uneventful.

There is a new family in the neighbourhood. Robert Pires and his daughter, Olivia moved into a small house near Jenni and Patrick. Robert hates cleaning but loves women. His lifetime goal is to shag at least 20 different girls which pretty much sums him up. Unfortunately, his dislike of keeping his house tidy has resulted in some pretty unhygienic scenes.

While Olivia spends her days playing on her toy xylophone, Robert spends his chatting up girls in his kitchen, So far, so good. He’s managed to bed 3 beautiful women so far; Nicole, a sophisticated, French college student. Jade, a bisexual girl who has a similar life time want. (A match made in heaven there, then) and Nylissit Petit’s sister!

Manu has sold his tree business. After reaching the highest rank, He decided to sell up and try something new. He has just opened Small Dance, a small (really?) dance and pool hall located near the heart of Lanesra.

His wife, Nylissit, is hating the fact that her husband is not at home as much anymore and so cannot spend as much time in bed as she’d like. She has been spotted flirting with Komei Tellerman, a popular member of the community and the other day, was seen at the local club with her tongue down the throat of none other than her sister’s ex husband, Kvornan! (What is about the Tricou family being slutty. Maybe it was part of the curse!) Unfortunately for me, I was the witness of the latter betrayal. Being one of Manu’s best friends, I felt it was my duty to slap her and let her know exactly what I thought of her antics :’(

Now I am stuck. I feel I have to tell Manu what I saw but at the same time, I don’t want his heart to be broken!

Don't eat glass!

by cartlionel @ Tuesday, 18. Jul, 2006 - 18:42:20

I watched Jenni play tennis at the weekend. It was this tournament where there was a ring of courts, (not pitches!) and the rule was to play one set and then move onto the next court and play a different opponent. I didn’t join in, I just sat on the grass and watched and occasionally threw the ball back so the game could continue.

Jenni was doing OK I suppose, I wasn’t really paying attention until I noticed her latest opponent, Goran Ivanisevic! She was pretty unfazed by this and just carried on playing. I wanted to run up to her and say “For god’s sake! You are on a tennis court with Goran I! What the hell are you playing tennis for?” but I didn’t. It was too hot.

Everyone soon got pretty tired so we headed for lunch. I was just wondering about when I spied the trophy, a large white bowl with a glass top. It looked suspiciously like my mum’s slow cooker. I so badly wanted to touch it and there didn’t seem to be anyone about so I reached out to feel it. I then had this urge to kiss it. I then put part of the glass top into my mouth and bit it. (I wonder where I got an idea like that?) Oh yes...

It broke.

Obviously, I wasn’t expecting that to happen. I bet Rafa (who, strangely enough, was not at the tournament) has never broken a trophy in that way! Someone shouted out “Don’t Eat Glass!” I turned around and there was Freddie, all dressed up in tennis gear, running towards me. I started to cry.

Unfortunately, I don’t recall anything else happening :(

The World Cup is now finished until 2010. I will be 28 by then and probably too old to make posts like this! :(

Here is my (and Jenni's) top talent eye candy of the tournament that we've not come across previously. Enjoy...! :D

Headaches

by cartlionel @ Thursday, 13. Jul, 2006 - 23:42:28

Yesterday sucked. Most pointless day of the year so far.

I got up. It was very difficult. I went to training. I was bored. The only productive thing was writing 800 words of my 1200 word essay. Obviously somebody else I still have to answer the difficult part.

In the afternoon I went over to Jenni’s. Me and Becky played Mario Kart but couldn’t convince Jenni to have a go. :(

Then my head started to play the “I’m going to hurt like hell and ignore the drugs you take to ease the pain” game. I gave it a chance to be nice and stop but it didn’t so I went home, and straight to bed. It was about 5pm.

3 hours later I got up, had some chicken and went on a commenting frenzy. Not the best idea as head doesn’t like staring at bright monitors it seems. So, I became all girly and spent 3 hours in the bathroom making myself look beautiful. :D

Then I went to bed, again.

OK, now for the analysis. Last week, I went to training and had to go home after 45 minutes due to stupid head being mean. I am guessing that the heat is causing it. I am not, and have never been a fan of the summer. I much prefer sitting inside then baking in the sunshine. So it’s either that, or my other (more interesting) theory.

I am sure blurring the lines of reality is not a good thing for my head to comprehend. My mind likes it. It goes on dates with Freddie, finds him asleep on my bed most afternoons, and has flings with a plethora of other.. er... talents. Lately, this hobby of mine has appeared to magnify in size and it doesn’t help matters (yes it does) that a few friends play along with my- role-playing, if you will.

I see only one solution to my problem.

Keep blurring those lines til winter, then see if my head moans. I hope it doesn’t :)

So now you know

Questions 1-5 swiped from AJ. 6-10 from Ros.

1) How would you spend an ideal day?
With Freddie. I’d go into details but I like my blog to be as family friendly as possible! :D

2) Are you close to your family?
To my mum and sister, yes. Don’t see my Dad much.

3) What are your 5 favourite possessions?
PC, Freddie the dog, Shiny new mp3 player, The contents of my bottom drawer by my bed, Games collection.

4) What's your worst fault?
Oh they’re all bad. Probably my lack of assertiveness and not understanding spaghetti conversations.

5) What have been the best 3 moments in your life?
So far: ICC in Sweden, First kiss with Zvone, Going to Hig-h-bury for the first time.

6) What are your favourite colours?
Yellow and Purple but obviously not together :D

7) Do you feel like you have a home/belong somewhere?
Not as much as I used to. We moved house a few years ago and this new flat lacks the atmosphere that our old house had.

8) Do you like being alone?
It depends whether I chose to be or not.

9) Is your silence ever empty?
Not really.

10) What are your 3 favourite works of art - textual or visual?
Um, I like that painting with the big blocks of colour and the black lines, forget the name of it. I don’t really “do” art :)) Oh wait, I have “The Art Book” Lets see... The Mondrian one. ;)

Basic Braining

by cartlionel @ Tuesday, 11. Jul, 2006 - 20:49:50

Only another 6 days of training to go. YAY!

Getting up this morning was really hard.. I don’t know why as I was in bed by midnight.

I got ready really slowly and didn’t leave enough time for breakfast or sandwich-making. Left enough time to check my email and read a few blogs though. Funny that.

I popped into Spar, praying they had a cheap bread roll that I’d like the contents of, (Egg Mayo, Ham & Cheese). They did! It was an amazing moment that doesn’t happen very often. Then I went and ruined it by forgetting to put it in the fridge at Training. :(

Up until break-time I had great fun drawing this:

After break I had a chat with Dave who leaves on the same day as me. He said he wishes he could do it all again. Very strange. I don’t really unless I do something a lot more challenging next time.

About 11:45 I decided that I’d better start doing some work. I hadn’t got around to writing my personal profile as I had no idea what to say, so I spent another 20 minutes staring into space before Jeanne noticed my head lolling on the desk and came over to help. By lunchtime I had a personal profile. Thanks Jeanne!

What is about doing these job search tasks that make you sound like you have the biggest ego on the planet and at the same time make you appear to be the biggest suck-up to ever grace the earth? I think that’s why I have found these exercises so difficult. I am not that kind of person, so trying to “sell” myself (or anything really) doesn’t work as I will always try to find a flaw. Luckily I only have the essay to go. They love saving the best ‘til last...

We aren’t allowed to use the internet at training unless it’s for work related research so I spent lunchtime looking up what was going on with Zidane. Everyone seems more forgiving today which is good so hopefully it’ll all be forgotten by next week! I got a lot of emails from Ploppikins with the obvious piss-taking flash animations. I bollocked him for being so mean. I also saw pics of Thierry in a suit which was fun. :)

After lunch I went back to sleep. Unfortunately, sleeping at a desk and willing the clock to turn doesn’t work as well as it does at 4am when you’re in your own bed. So I started the stupid essay instead. I wrote the title. I offered Jeanne a fiver in exchange for writing it for me but she said no. Bitch. :(

My sister is here now brandishing a list of CDs I have to “acquire” for her before she leaves tonight. I don’t know... think I should start charging...

In the news...

by cartlionel @ Monday, 10. Jul, 2006 - 23:05:11

So, apart from worrying about Zidane and wanting to throw someone off a bridge. Here is what’s been happening lately.

Mum’s (4x4) car passed it’s MOT and we had a McDonalds (bleugh) to celebrate.

Went to Totton but didn’t buy Ham. I did, however buy yogurts, crisps and a new pair of shoes.

It dawned on me – literally – that I never did hug Manu Petit in Jenni’s kitchen.

Training is more bearable now I can sit there listening to mp3s all day without the battery dying after an hour. Now I am just scared someone will overhear my terrible music selection...

Still didn’t start writing my essay. No surprise there then.

The Crazy French Bloke still hasn’t guessed my whereabouts.

Realised there probably isn’t an internet chat room on another planet that only I know about.

I’ve become re-addicted to Trackmania Sunrise.

Relisted my phone on eBay with extra armour to deter those ***.

Rafael Nadal is now on my list.

Swapped anti-virus program (again). Also discovered the old one has left a load of rubbish behind that I can't delete.

Got a new bus-pass. This one has a nicer picture.

Discovered about 2 minutes ago that I need to get out more :D

There was another final today you know..

by cartlionel @ Sunday, 09. Jul, 2006 - 23:07:22

So, everyone has gone on about Italy and Zidane (Why did you do that??) so I am going to talk about Wimbledon. OK, i hardly watched any of it. but I learnt that there is this LOOVELY player called Rafael Nadal. He lost today. But he's yummy, especially those arms! :D

Thanks for the pics, Zvone :)

N-Gage sale update

by cartlionel @ Sunday, 09. Jul, 2006 - 17:02:27

I received this fabulous email from my “buyer” last night. Notice the awful grammar? :D

Dear Seller,
I will like to purchase these Item: NOKIA N-GAGE QD MOBILE PHONE GAMING DECK UNLOCKED (220005461993) for a friend oversea as a gift.He works with British America Tobacco there in West Africa Due to my workload, i might not be able to be checking my mails often.
So i will be offering £80.I want the item posted via ROYAL MAIL INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR TO HER.hope the package will get to him in good condition ..What is the present condition of this item and does it comes in it's original box?.
I will be paying you for the item via Postal Order, so get back to me with your full name and address where payment will be deliverd
to.
MANY THANKS.

So, you can’t spell, you can’t string a coherent sentence together. You can’t decide whether your friend in West Africa is male or female. You want me to post to a location my auction says I don’t post to and you failed to notice in the picture and description that there is a box and that the condition is clearly stated.

Normally I would be thinking. hmmm.. SCAM SCAM SCAM but I’d love to know how many scammers pay via postal order. What would usually happen is they pay with a stolen card and suddenly in a couple of weeks I’ll have the money taken back with a nice fine to top it off. This leads me to think he’s just being a stupid time-wasting numpty.

Anyway, I reported the little shit to eBay and he’s now been suspended. I should say, his account has been suspended as I’m sure he will open up a new one before the day is through. I can claim my fees back immediately which is a relief as I didn’t want to wait to relist this as I have another phone for sale too.

The only problem I now have is to try and prevent this happening a 2nd time. So I fear the next auction is going to be quite an unwelcome, bitchy, contract sounding auction with so many clauses that it’ll take the potential buyer all day to figure out whether he/she is eligible to buy.

I'm in a foul mood

by cartlionel @ Sunday, 09. Jul, 2006 - 00:17:29

Firstly, I finally got around to listing my N-Gage on eBay today. I did it as a Buy It Now or Best Offer. Some STUPID, IDIOTIC, PAIN IN THE ASS, N00B, TIMEWASTING, BASTARD! decided to buy it. Of course, his address and phone number are as fake as.. fake stuff so I’m hoping eBay deal with him/her quickly so I can relist and sell to someone who will actually want it. I’m guessing they won’t cos eBay customer service is a joke.

The "buyer" has won 4 other phones in less than 10 minutes and only registered on eBay today. I hate people like that. :( So do I forfeit my listing fees and relist straightaway or do I wait the 2 weeks to claim them back? :(

The other foul mood thing has made me feel like I am not welcome in my own home. I thought Mum and Blokey were only toying with me when they weakly protested about my demands to have the TV tonight.

They weren’t

They’ve been dropping little comments all day about this just to wind me up, trying to make me feel guilty for taking over their living room for 2 hours. For God’s sake! It’s my living room too! I don’t invade their space very often, whenever he is here I stay out the way and if possible, escape to Jenni’s or something but she’s not here so I can’t.

Eventually they decided they can’t watch the portable as Mum doesn’t allow smoking in her bedroom. They can’t both sit on a laptop as they always end up arguing over internet activities. So they decided to go to the pub. They never go to the pub so I guess this was another trick to make me feel guilty. Hello! The TV isn’t the only thing in the flat!

They trotted out at about 8ish and I settled down to watch what I was expecting to be an uninteresting game. It wasn’t though, it was really exciting stuff! I don’t really fancy any of the German or Portugese players so the interestingness of it was quite a surprise. I had to SMS Jenni the score so this cost me quite a bit of credit! Does anyone actually LIKE Ronaldo? I am actually starting to feel sorry for him, although I’m very glad he didn’t win that Young Player thing.

Mum and Blokey came home with a Chinese and shared some with me as a “peace offering” so I’m not so mad now. I hope tomorrow night goes a little smoother.
